So my PC is 4 years old now and could do with some sprucing up. Normally I would just buy a cheap gaming PC to replace it but this time maybe I should just buy a new graphics card instead. To be honest I don’t what I should do but that’s what you lot are for.

So my PC has an:

AMD FX-4350 Quad-Core Processor at 4.2 GHZ.

8GB of RAM

AMD Radeon HD 6670

Amazon are doing a sale on graphics cards at the moment and in particular this one:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00ICUGOP0

and basically what I want to know is can I just buy a new card and swap it in or will I need to do more including buying more parts?

Also don’t do the typical PC gamer thing of just saying I need MOAR! I’m on a budget here.

2 things to spice up your PC... that gfx card is decent for hte money but what PSU do you have? Gotta make sure that is good enough to handle that card. And if you haven’t done so already, upgrade to SSD.

Give me what you want to spend and I can recommend some options. You can buy a new card as long as you have the PCI slots and the power needed from your power supply. Your motherboard is pretty much the deciding factor of what you can plug in.

I am a firm believer in AMD likes AMD and Nvidia likes Intel. Also at this price point AMD will give you more bang for your buck. I would rather get this

You get more memory and the 7XX series while still potent is starting to show a little age. This card will serve you better in the long run.

if you can stretch the budget just a little bit, you can get this for $20 more: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc…

It’s quite a bit more GPU than the 750

Just keep in mind that AMD cards run a little hot and take more power compared to Nvidia equivalents, as long as you have decent air flow and have enough wattage it will suit you fine. Below I’ll link a comparison for you to look at, keep in mind the link I sent before is even a bit faster and has double to memory to give you a safe buffer for the future.

Yeah, you could put that in. It should be fine. Your CPU is also a bit of a weak point but that’s an upgrade for next time. I have the same 750 Ti in my PC and it’s great for the price. I’ve noticed that some other people are suggesting AMD graphics cards, but while I really like them, it would be a better idea to go with NVIDIA because their GPUs run cooler, use less power, and run better in most games.
